“A house without a John, never gets ahead!”

Indeed, the greatest and rightfully best-known of all Saints named John is the Greatest of Prophets, Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist of Christ; the name of the Greatest of Prophets was also taken by dozens of other Christians who became saints. One of them is Saint John of Damascus, to whom we owe much of what we chant and what we know about one of the Church's greatest enemies. We celebrate the memory of this very great saint, theologian, hymnographer, and defender of the Holy Icons on December 4.
The wonderworking Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary Tricherousa (the Three-Handed) is named after the great miracle performed for him. The Tricherousa exists and is located in Greece, at the Holy Monastery of Hilandar on Mount Athos.
Faithful copies of the Holy Icon are found in several churches and monasteries throughout the world.
The Tricherousa is especially honored by the Serbs.
