We have all seen children, from our family or others, wearing t-shirts that say Brooklyn, or BKLN.
What is this Brooklyn?
Brooklyn is the largest borough of New York City, in the southernmost part of New York State and at the easternmost part of Long Island. There are about twenty Orthodox parishes in Brooklyn.
Saint Raphael of Brooklyn lived there.
How wonderful it is every time we see the place name Brooklyn, to also say a prayer to the Saint of Brooklyn!

Saint Raphael is one of the modern holy enlighteners of North America. His parents, Michael and Mariam Hawaweeny, were from Damascus, Syria. They were persecuted by the Muslims in their homeland and were forced to flee to Beirut, Lebanon. Saint Raphael was born there in 1860.
