September 2nd.
It is rare for the name of Saint Mamas to be given today; nevertheless, the Saint is very beloved and wonderworking, which is why he is honored throughout the Orthodox world and is known for his many miracles.
Our Greek Orthodox brothers on the largest Greek island, the Great Island and Saint-bearing Cyprus, show him particularly great devotion; an island which today, despite the great struggles of the modern great Heroes of Hellenism, is still two-fifths occupied by church-fighters, and for this reason, the memory of the Saint cannot be celebrated freely in the city that loves him most, Morphou.
In Cyprus, then, the Holy Relics of the Holy Child-Martyr Mamas are located, and seventy churches are dedicated to his holy memory, which is celebrated festively on September 2nd.
Read very important information about Saint Mamas in the September volume of our new family series "My Synaxarion - A Saint for Every Day".
