We celebrate the memory of the great Saint on April 1st and on the 5th Sunday of Great Lent.

No sin remains unforgiven, as long as the sinner repents. In this specific case, Saint Mary of Egypt surpassed many sinners in sin; however, as soon as she realized the degradation of her immortal soul, she escaped, overcame her evil self, and climbed the ladder of virtues with such determination that her life constitutes one of the brightest examples of repentance. Her repentance is so brilliant that our Church presents her to us twice during Great Lent so that we may be properly prepared for the Resurrection of our Lord Christ, inspired by the exquisite example of Saint Mary of Egypt.
