Collection: "TURKISH" (1)

The language called ''Turkish'' is the official language of the state that succeeded the Islamic Caliphate of Constantinople. Since October 29, 1923, this state has been called Turkey and its language ''Turkish''.

Until December 31, 1928, what is today called the Turkish language used the Arabic alphabet, naturally adapted to the specificities of that language.

From January 1, 1929, the founder of the new state, the so-called "father of the Turks", Mustafa Kemal, banned the use of the Arabic script. Something similar had happened with the use of the Cyrillic alphabet in previous years in the then newly-formed Turkish Soviet socialist republics of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as in Tatarstan, Russia.

The newly-founded Turkish state imposed, by law, the exclusive use of this language, with its new Latin script, on the various tribes inhabiting the entire territory of the state, both in Asia Minor and in the lands of Thrace that remained under its jurisdiction following the abolition of the Caliphate of Constantinople.

More than 68 million people speak it as their mother tongue, while all residents of the newly Islamic state of Turkey are required by law to know it just as well as their mother tongue.

Without any great difficulty, this language is also understood by more than one hundred million other people who speak related Turkic languages, from Moldova and Azerbaijan to Siberia and China.

The book from the very popular series by Potamitis Publishing: "Little and Orthodox", "The Resurrection of Christ", constitutes the first "Orthodox Children's Book" in Turkish and was published for our ever-increasing brothers in Christ who are discovering the Truth!  (John 14:6)
