We all know some kind soul named Anna; however, how much do we know about Christ's Grandmother, the dear mother of the Theotokos?
We celebrate the memory of Saint Anna three times a year: on December 9th, when her most blessed pregnancy began; on July 25th, the day of her Dormition; and on September 9th, together with Joachim, one day after the Nativity of the Theotokos.
Holy Relics of Christ's Grandmother are found in many holy pilgrimage sites throughout the world, such as, for example, the Holy Skete of Saint Anna on Mount Athos. The name Anna in Hebrew is pronounced Hannah and means grace, favor.
