With the 100th "Little and Orthodox" book, we will learn the basics about the first holy martyrs of Crete, the Ten Holy Martyrs.
Regarding the Ten Holy Martyrs of Crete, like most Greeks, we simply knew the village of the same name, which we had actually visited on a pilgrimage. Our third-born child had a special affinity for them, which is why he had slowly begun to depict their lives in iconography. Thus, when an officer in the Air Force came to the workshop unannounced and very politely "demanded" that we create a "Little and Orthodox" book dedicated to the Ten Holy Martyrs, we were not opposed; however, what "compelled" us to do it was that our little sister came to the office at the same time and announced that our mother had cancer and that we needed to find a Christian doctor. The officer announced that she worked exactly where our mother was going to be treated and that she knew the people we needed for her therapy.
Our Saints are alive, and in the life of anyone who asks them!
The book was created and miraculously delivered to the officer exactly on the eve of her son's Baptism. She packed the party favors with the 100th "Little and Orthodox" book and the special sticker together with her great-grandmother. Today, with her very devout—and also an officer—husband, they are expecting the birth of their fourth child; for whose baptism they have—quite obviously—"demanded" another book.
The Ten Holy Martyrs, through the now mother-of-four officer, regularly send us blessings, the most delicious of which are olives, prepared by the very devout officer's mother!
