The Virgin Mary Tricherousa (Three-Handed) comes from the Holy Land and was the property of Saint John of Damascus, whose hand, which had been cut off by the Hagarenes, she saved. Centuries later, it was given as a blessing to the first Archbishop of the Serbs, Saint Sava, by the brotherhood of Saint Sabbas. Saint Sava deposited it in the Athonite Holy Monastery of Hilandar, where it is treasured to this day. It is the greatest treasure of the Orthodox Serbs.
