Thanks to the two Saints from Thessaloniki, the Slavs were able to use their own language in church instead of Latin. This language, which is no longer spoken by any Slavic people, continues to be used in the Russian Church; the differences between this language and Russian are incomparably greater than the differences between the modern spoken Greek language and the language of the New Testament.
