During the first fortnight, known as the Dekapentavgoustos, we prepare with fasting, attentiveness, and prayer for the final Theotokos feast of the ecclesiastical year, the Dormition of the Theotokos. Fasting is only one part of the preparation for the feast; prayer is another important part of the preparation.
